Position Description: Firefighter/Engineer

Immediate Supervisor: Airport Fire Chief or Fire Captain
Job Purpose: The Firefighter is required to deliver and maintain a compliant and operational rescue and firefighting service. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Firefighter to fully participate in the airport emergency services, including following the safety and emergency procedures as per applicable regulatory and operational requirements to ensure continuity and operational readiness across the airport.
Job Summary: Under the direction of the Shift Captain and/or Fire Chief, this position of Firefighter/EMT is responsible for the safe and acceptable performance of all firefighting functions, emergency medical first aid, assist and participate in all firefighting, lifesaving, and security activities at the airport and its facilities, and perform related work as required. The firefighter, as a crew member, will follow the leadership of the department in all the orders and written policies and procedures and all other written orders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- The firefighter maintains a high standard of safety and work performance in the execution of their duties. This will include maintaining safe work practices and compliance with company, client, airport, and government agency policies, rules, standards and regulations, communication any deficiencies and recommendations for correction to the Station Captain and/or Fire Chief.
- Complete all assigned daily duties as directed by the Shift Captain and/or Fire Chief.
- Driver Operator of ARFF apparatus as a Firefighter.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Shift Captain/Fire Chief, as the scope of the client services requires or broadens.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups using good oral, written, and listening skills.
- Ability to carry out oral and written directions.
- Ability to prepare reports on the handling of routine or emergency duties.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in determining the appropriate action to be taken relation to job responsibilities.
- Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties, to include all clients, tenant organizations and airport employees.
- Must demonstrate good character appropriate to the requirements of the job.
- Must present an appearance consistent with other employee appearance standards.
- Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties, to include all co-workers/employees and Airport Administration.
- A thorough understanding of and demonstrated experience in NIMS and ICS Incident Command
- Working knowledge and proficiency in the operation of computer equipment and software programs used by the department, to include Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word and Excel.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- College Degree (preferred)
Certifications & Licenses (Required):
- IFSAC, Pro-Board, or DOD Firefighter I
- CPR and EMT-B certified – State EMT-B
- ICS 100, 200, 700, & 800
Certifications & Licenses (Preferred):
- IFSAC, Pro-Board, or DOD Firefighter II
- IFSAC, Pro-Board, or DOD ARFF Firefighter
- IFSAC, Pro-Board, or DOD ARFF Driver/Operator
Qualifications:
- FF experience with an emphasis on ARFF. This can be either military, DOD, or commercial aviation firefighting experience.
Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must have and maintain a State issued Driver License
- Must be able to pass a 10-year FBI Criminal History Record Check, and TSA Security Threat Assessment and maintain a SIDA badge.
- This is a drug testing position
- Must be able to pass a NFPA 1582 pre-employment and annual occupational health screening.

Pay: $19.73/hour.
Schedule: Employees are scheduled for approximately 16 hours of overtime each week beyond the standard 40‑hour workweek. This results in a total weekly schedule of 56 hours, combining the regular 40 hours with 16 hours of planned overtime (paid at 1.5x).
