Cowlitz County Fire District 3 is accepting applications to establish a hiring list for Full time and Per diem Paramedics. This list will be used for future openings for Paramedic’s. The list will be good for approximately two years from the date the list is established, or until the Board of Fire Commissioners extends the list or calls for a new exam.

Start Date: March 2nd, 2026
Salary; Full time Paramedic
$76,320.00 – $88,349.94
Plus, benefit package.
Per diem – $804/ per 24hr. shift

Toutle Fire & Rescue is a combination Fire District in Cowlitz County, WA, with a response area of 48 square miles. We currently have a full-time Fire Chief, three full-time Firefighter/EMTs, several part – time and relief FF/EMTs and Volunteers. Toutle Fire & Rescue is an all-risk response agency that responds to any emergency-related situation (fires, rescues, medical emergencies, hazardous materials incidents, natural and man-made disasters, etc.)

Position Description
The career Paramedic reports directly to the Fire Chief. The primary responsibilities of this position include emergency medical and fire response, maintaining operational readiness, assisting with training, supporting fire and life safety education programs and EMS transport. The successful candidate will be expected to work well with career staff and support recruiting, training, and mentoring of Part-time and volunteer team members.

Qualifications
• Minimum of 18 years of age.
• Current Washington State Driver’s License with acceptable driving record
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Current Washington State EMT-P
• Current Cowlitz County Certified EMT-P or willing to obtain.
• Applicants must submit to drug screening and criminal background investigation pursuant to RCW 43.43.830, the results of which may disqualify some applicants.
