City of Anacortes Fire Department
The City of Anacortes Fire Department is seeking an experienced fire service professional to join our team as a Lateral Firefighter/EMT.
Anacortes Fire Department (AFD) is an “All Hazards” organization. In addition to structural fire suppression, AFD provides wildland fire suppression, ALS and BLS transport services, high/low angle rope rescue, water rescue, and confined space rescue.
AFD operates out of three stations with a career staff consisting of:
- 2 Chiefs
- 3 Battalion Chiefs
- 6 Lieutenants
- 27 Firefighters
- 1 Community Paramedic
- 1 Administrative Assistant
Minimum Qualifications
- Current Washington State EMT Certification
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License
- Lateral applicants must meet one of the following:
- At least 1 year of career experience plus successful completion of a career-level academy with FF1 and HMO certification, or
- At least 3 years of career experience plus IFSAC/ProBoard FF1, FF2, and HMO certifications

Salary
2025 Salary Range: $100,989 – $110,354
The Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) is currently under negotiation. The wages listed in this posting reflect the 2025 rates and are subject to change pending finalization of the agreement. Additionally, the compensation package includes annual holiday pay.
