City of Anacortes Fire Department – Entry-Level Firefighter/Paramedic Opportunity
The City of Anacortes Fire Department is seeking a fire service professional to join our team as an Entry Level Firefighter/Paramedic.
Anacortes Fire Department (AFD) is an “All Hazards” organization. In addition to structural fire suppression, AFD provides wildland fire suppression, ALS and BLS transport services, high/low angle rope rescue, water rescue, and confined space rescue.
Department Overview
AFD operates out of three stations with a career staff consisting of:
- 2 Chiefs
- 3 Battalion Chiefs
- 6 Lieutenants
- 27 Firefighters
- 1 Community Paramedic
- 1 Administrative Assistant
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have a current paramedic certification in Washington State or be able to transfer certification to Washington State
- Must satisfactorily complete the Emergency Vehicle Incident Prevention (EVIP) course and maintain certification
- Must complete Firefighter I and II training at an accredited program and be certified by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC)
- Must possess a valid Washington State driver’s license
Salary
2025 Salary Range: $107,852.00 – $121,389.00 Annually
The Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) is currently under negotiation. The wages listed in this posting reflect the 2025 rates and are subject to change pending finalization of the agreement. Additionally, the compensation package includes annual holiday pay/Paramedic premium.
