- PURPOSE OF POSITION:Perform firefighting and emergency medical services, including but not limited to, fire prevention, fire control and extinguishment, rescues, emergency medical treatment, hazardous material incidents, training, public education and station/vehicle maintenance duties.

Respond to fire alarms, medical emergencies, hazardous conditions and related public service activities as required; performs all assigned firefighting work including preventing, combatting and extinguishing fires to protect life, property and the environment; work as an integral part of a firefighting/EMS unit, utilizing procedures and techniques as prescribed by the department and supervising physician.
Demonstrates professional and compassionate attitude to help others in high pressure and stressful circumstances; ability to contribute excellent oral communication skills for communications with co-workers during emergency situations, and for vital communications with the public, and other emergency personnel; participates in community outreach, fire prevention awareness and related public service activities as required.
Use specialized firefighting, EMS and rescue equipment/tools, demonstrating a high level of proficiency and skill. Drive, operate and maintain fire/EMS apparatus and related equipment as prescribed by the department. Maintain fire stations, equipment and grounds, including routine housekeeping and maintenance. Practice firefighting skills in organized drills.
Ability to quickly and effectively analyze hazardous situations and take appropriate course of action; assess traffic hazards and apparatus placement; perform fire suppression activities including, establishing a water supply, advancing and operating hose lines, search and rescue, ventilation and salvage/overhaul operations.
Perform emergency medical services, including assessment and treatment of patients per Jackson County Standing Orders. Provide patient care including extrication and preparation for movement, carrying and loading, transportation to medical facility and other related EMS duties as assigned. Maintain paramedic licensure through routine continuing education.
Assist and support team performance and work cooperatively with other team members; communicate effectively in a positive manner; provide positive support to internal and external customers; performs as a member of the team; acts ethically and responsibly; supports and demonstrates engagement in diversity, inclusion and equity and maintains effective working relationships with others; demonstrates professionalism and respect in all workplace interactions.
Arrives to work, meetings, and other work-related functions on time and maintains regular job attendance.
Performs other tasks and assignments as delegated by the Fire Chief or his designee.
