• Plan, assign, and coordinate project tasks in partnership with project partners and WCC staff, ensuring work meets project specifications, timelines, and quality expectations.
• Train crew members in the safe operation of tools, equipment, and field techniques used in restoration activities such as trail construction, habitat enhancement, invasive species control, riparian planting, and biological monitoring.
• Conduct on-site safety assessments, develop safety plans, implement risk-mitigation measures, and ensure adherence to WCC and agency safety policies and procedures.
• Serve as the primary onsite WCC representative in communications with project sponsors, land managers, partner agencies, and the public, providing updates on project progress and resolving field issues as needed.
• Communicate clearly and consistently with corps members, project partners, Ecology staff and prospective members, project partners and the general public.
• Recruit, interview, and select crew members; conduct performance evaluations; support member development; and recommend disciplinary actions when necessary.
• Complete required administrative documentation, such as time sheets, travel logs, safety reports, project production records, enrollment paperwork, and equipment inventories with accuracy and timeliness.
• Respond to disasters such as wildfires, floods, landslides, and hazardous material incidents, which may require extended travel, deployment to temporary duty stations, and participation in activities such as debris removal, fire camp operations, damage assessments, or spill cleanup.
• Maintain project tools, vehicles, and equipment; ensure they are operated safely; and coordinate repairs or replacements when needed.
• Support WCC’s mission by fostering member growth, promoting participation in trainings and service-learning opportunities, and creating a positive and supportive crew experience.
