DSHS HCLA Administrative Assistant 3

Join our HCLA Office of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (ODHH) as an Administrative Assistant 3 in Lacey, WA. You will play a vital role providing confidential administrative and staff support services for ODHH. This position supports the Case Management Services (CSM) staff and other Field Services, while reporting to the ODHH Field Supervisor.

In this position, you will provide information and technical assistance to program participants, staff and outside entities regarding program content, policies and activities.

Note: This position requires the ability to communicate effectively in American Sign Language (ASL) and written English.

Some of what you'll do:

  • Provide administrative and staff support services for HCLA ODHH.
  • Enter, reviews, and/or verifies data in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Information System (DHHIS).
  • Develops, coordinates, organizes, and/or directs special projects in collaboration with other Case Management and Field Services team members
  • May assist with arranging meetings and/or meeting logistics for ODHH team and CMS team

Desired skills, knowledge, and abilities:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, databases, spreadsheets, and electronic correspondence.
  • Ability and willingness to work with persons who are Deaf, DeafBlind, Hard of Hearing, Late Deafened, Deaf Plus and Speech Disabled.
  • Ability to learn and operate specialized technology including assistive communication equipment, telecommunication relay services, video relay services, and video remote interpreting.
  • Ability to draft, proofread, and prepare professional documents, reports, meeting agendas, and correspondence with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize assignments and maintain consistent performance in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skilled in complex data entry, records management, filing, archiving, and maintaining confidential information.

Who should apply?

Professionals who meet one of the following:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent and three years of clerical, office, or administrative support experience.
OR
  • An Associate’s degree in business administration, public administration, or a closely related field and:
    • One year of experience as an Administrative Assistant 2; or
    • Two years of experience as an Administrative Assistant 1.
OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience totaling four years.
Note: To satisfy the ASL fluency requirement and for dual language benefit during employment with ODHH, the candidate is required to take American Sign Language Proficiency Interview (ASLPI) rating of 3 or higher.

This opportunity may be entitled to basic salary plus 5% increase for dual language.
