The Mansfield Center invites applications for a Program Manager to support planning and delivery of high-impact civic engagement programs. Working across a variety of programs, the Program Manager provides essential operational and logistical support to participants and program officers while serving as a key liaison among external partners, community members, and University of Montana colleagues.
The position plays a central role in ensuring that programs serving thousands of participants each year run smoothly from planning through completion. Responsibilities include coordinating and troubleshooting complex logistics, activities, and events; maintaining accurate records and procedures; and managing multiple concurrent tasks and recurring program processes. Success in this role requires exceptional organizational and communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to consistently execute complex processes accurately and efficiently.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities

- Maintains accurate participant and program records, including confidential information, using databases, spreadsheets, and other electronic systems.
- Tracks program logistics, deadlines, budgets, deliverables, and vendor contracts across multiple concurrent programs.
- Coordinates participant travel, lodging, transportation, events, and technology for in-person and virtual programs.
- Coordinates and implements program activities in alignment with program goals and Center priorities.
- Communicates with participants, partners, vendors, and campus colleagues to coordinate activities and resolve logistical issues.
- Supports program communications and outreach, including social media, presentations, and other materials.
- Coordinates program administration, reporting, evaluation, and compliance with grant requirements and University policies.
- Supervises, trains, and supports student employees and interns.
- Serves as a liaison with campus and community partners and maintains alumni contacts.
- Supports general office operations, including files, supplies, equipment, and other administrative needs.
Minimum Qualifications

- High School diploma and two (2) years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail, accuracy, follow-through, and sound judgment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and recurring processes while maintaining consistency and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a variety of audiences.
- Ability to develop and improve organizational systems, anticipate needs, identify issues, and implement effective solutions.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and confidentiality.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, databases, and other office technology, with the ability to learn new software and project management tools.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends during peak program periods, and to accompany participants on outdoor activities, including mountainous hikes and whitewater rafting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of closely related experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Experience coordinating logistics, events, or complex operational processes that require a high degree of organization and attention to detail. ?

Compensation Title: Program Manager I
Union: FOCUS-MFPE
Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), typically Monday through Friday with flexible hours, 12 months/year.
Probationary Period: Six (6) months minimum
