Business Operations and Finance invites applications for a Computer Specialist I to serve as production assistant and software support for the Financial Systems. In this position you will be responsible for serving as a project resource across all Business Operations and Finance areas as well as providing support in software analysis, functional design, project management, testing, implementation, documentation, and support.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate nightly workflow cycles and manage daily/monthly Finance activities (e.g., month-end close, asset depreciation, reporting) in the University’s ERP (Banner)
  • Schedule and verify daily financial data files from Banner and external sources
  • Perform system assurance checks and reconcile Banner Finance with the State Accounting System (SABHRS)
  • Conduct scheduled and ad-hoc financial data reconciliations
  • Consult on and assist with process improvements and operational efficiencies, including new software implementation and support
  • Maintain Business Operations & Finance Teams page and webpages per functional area instructions
  • Support and fulfill financial report writing requests in platforms such as Workiva and Argos
  • Communicate production issues, changes, and resolutions to affected users

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business accounting or information systems – or three (3) years equivalent working experience
  • Skilled in SQL (Oracle SQL Developer, MS Access) knowledge and application, with preferred report writing experience
  • Functional knowledge and experience with relational databases and creating ad hoc queries and reports
  • Demonstrated ability to complete data mining and reporting requests
  • Advanced understanding of financial transactions and basic accounting functions
  • Demonstrated ability to test, analyze, and support new/existing software thoroughly
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze system processes to identify and resolve errors
  • High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook
  • Demonstrated ability of strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, effective project management and organizational skills, and the ability to quickly learn new software and train others
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple and complex tasks with accuracy and confidentiality
  • Demonstrated ability to stay organized and work independently and efficiently
  • Strong professional communication skills (oral, written, listening, interpersonal, presentation)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of Banner Finance and SABHRS accounting systems
  • Experience with financial reporting systems such as Argos, Tableau, and Workiva

Additional Information

Position Number: 001750

Bargaining Unit: FOCUS-MFPE

Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year

Probationary Period: Six (6) months minimum
