The W.A. Franke College of Forestry and Conservation (FCFC) is seeking applications for a Budget Analyst II to join our accounting team. This position plays a key role in supporting the financial operations of the college by ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across a variety of accounting and business processes.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities

- Prepare timely and accurate financial reports to support leadership in planning, monitoring, and decision-making.
- Accurately process personnel forms, payroll entries, and payroll redistributions, ensuring compliance with university policies and deadlines.
- Manage purchasing and procurement transactions, verify budget availability, and ensure proper approvals are in place.
- Support faculty, staff, and students with travel and contracted service needs, including form preparation, accurate submissions, and coordination with procurement offices.
- Reconcile ProCard transactions, collect and verify receipts, and ensure compliance with OSP and university guidelines.
- Maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of UM’s financial systems and processes in order to provide accurate guidance and ensure compliance with university and external policies.
Minimum Qualifications

- High School diploma and two (2) years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of professional budget management practices and accounting principles.
- Demonstrated organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills and ability to meet deadlines in a busy, high volume transactional environment.
- Demonstrated ability to monitor account and grant activity and reconcile accounts.
- Demonstrated high degree of proficiency in the operation of personal computers and related word processing, spreadsheet and database software (Excel, Word, Microsoft Office, Outlook).
- Acute attention to detail is essential.
- Demonstrated knowledge in payroll management and processing.
- Demonstrated consistency, clarity, excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to explain detailed financial information and concepts on a level “non-accounting” people will understand.
- Ability to consult with faculty and administrators and act as a resource to help them achieve their department / project goals, while meeting requirements as applicable.
- Ability to understand university, state, federal and accounting practices and budget processes.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality and to work on projects independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in accounting (or equivalent combination of education and work experience), including completion of accounting coursework.
- Three (3) years of relevant accounting experience with direct responsibility for performing accounting functions.

Compensation Title: Budget Analyst II
Work Schedule:Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year
Probationary Period:Six (6) months minimum
