The College of Business invites applications for a Instructional Media Technician to oversee the operation and maintenance of the video conferencing systems.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities

  • The design and implementation of classroom AV technology into the building.
  • Provide AV assistance at COB events.
  • Evaluation and purchasing of new technology, and training for COB faculty, staff, and students.
  • Media production and editing for the COB YouTube channel and the “A New Angle” podcast.
  • Maintenance and training for the use of the podcast studio, video studio, and lightboard studio.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Understanding and proficiency in video, audio and networking/telecommunications systems and standards.
  • The ability to troubleshoot problems quickly and efficiently under tight deadline pressure.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff and student employees.
  • Knowledge of the latest presentation technologies.
  • The ability to design systems with flow charts and then implement the actual installation.
  • The ability to instill confidence in the capabilities of our building and our personnel to outside clients, as well as to other UM affiliated users.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Zoom, Teams, and other video conferencing software proficiency.
  • Microsoft Office products proficiency.
  • Video and audio production and editing expertise.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with peers on the COB tech team and UM AV technicians from PTS/UMIT.
  • Experience in designing and deploying AV hardware systems in an educational or corporate environment.
  • Experience in audio and video recording and postproduction.

Additional Information

Position Number:051930

Compensation Title: Elec Equip Tech I

Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year

Probationary Period: Six (6) months minimum

Benefits Include: Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.
