The University of Montana invites applications for a Curriculum Operations Director for the Montana Digital Academy. This role is responsible for setting the vision for Montana Digital Academy (MTDA) curricular strategy and building high-quality instructional assets across all MTDA programs. The Curriculum Operations Director will lead the design, development, and quality control of innovative online instructional assets across all MTDA programs and is responsible for ensuring that instructional assets meet both accessibility and educational standards. This role facilitates the long-term success of the MTDA by demonstrating expertise in the field of instructional design, applying this expertise to create instructional assets, and communicating this expertise to colleagues through leadership and mentorship.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities

- Develop and implement the strategic vision and strategic plan for Montana Digital Academy curriculum.
- Monitor developments in K-12 and higher education, instructional design, curriculum design, and technology accessibility to inform the strategy and activities of the Montana Digital Academy.
- Lead, or consult on, all Montana Digital Academy initiatives related to curriculum creation, curriculum revision, development of instructional assets, instructional course maintenance, and instructional accessibility.
- Review and monitor all curriculum and educational materials in use at the Montana Digital Academy for overall quality and alignment with Montana Digital Academy priorities.
- Build new instructional assets and update or revise existing instructional assets, which may include syllabi, lesson
plans, digital worksheets, digital exams, audiovisual learning content, learning modules within a learning
management system, and any other instructional assets used by the Montana Digital Academy. - Compile enrollment reports of students enrolled in Montana Digital Academy programs.
- Develop and implement skill and knowledge assessments for students, in order to assess gaps in curriculum and areas of curricular efficacy.
- Act as a liaison with contractors to discuss curricular and technological needs and implementation plans and to monitor compliance with contract terms.
- Plan for the scheduling, work assignments, and methods of work of temporary employees.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with digital education programs, instructional design, project management, and technology accessibility.
- Ability to develop, enforce, and follow policies and procedures.
- Ability to apply principles of childhood education and classroom instruction to the design and delivery of education.
- Ability to apply principles of classroom instruction to the design and delivery of education.
- Ability to apply professional and State-mandated educational standards to design of materials.
- Ability to apply principles of instructional design to the delivery of education.
- Able to identify and assess the learning needs of students and design learning programs that will meet those needs.
- Ability to apply principles of personnel management to effectively staff programs and manage the performance of employees.
- Ability to apply technological accessibility standards to the creation and implementation of educational web content, software, and other technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Education, Instructional Design, Curriculum Leadership, Educational Technology, or a related field.
- Five (5) years of experience in digital education programs and/or instructional Design.
- Three (3) years of experience in project management.
- Three (3) years of experience in technology accessibility.
- Experience teaching or working in a school that delivers instruction to K-12 students.
- Experience strategic planning.
- Experience with technology implementation and technology needs assessment.

Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, Letter of Appointment and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.
