Posting Context Statement
The Maintenance Supervisor works in Campus Services providing leadership and supervision to the maintenance general techs and painting team. This role reports to Campus Services, the largest unit in Auxiliary Services, and works primarily in the residence halls and multi-use facilities (Idaho Student Union Building, ICCU Arena, PF1CU Kibbie Dome and others). This role is critical in prioritizing work, providing general and preventive maintenance and ensuring all buildings under Campus Services are maintained at the highest level for the students, staff and community members who utilize our services. Campus Services is a 24/7 operation with on-call and night/weekend work periodically.
Position Overview
This position manages buildings and grounds, ensuring they meet the needs of faculty, staff and students by directing a team of skilled and semi-skilled employees.

This is an essential position that may be called upon in the event of an emergency and/or university closure.

Duties may include:
  • Perform planning, leadership and supervisory duties to Facilities support personnel
  • Oversee and perform maintenance and repair of campus buildings and grounds
  • Manage and assist with development of operating budgets
  • Develop and oversee projects in facilities
  • Participate in the campus snow and ice removal program
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications
Required Experience
  • Three years performing semi-skilled maintenance and repairs
  • Three years supervising or delegating work to others
  • Developing and managing project/construction budgets
  • Using computer software and applications for word processing, email, internet searches and data organization
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints
Required Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Other
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving university-owned vehicles
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Able to work weekends/nights for on-call and emergency service requests
Additional Preferred
  • Ability to complete several projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work effectively with university support units, facility users and management
  • Knowledge of general building safety codes relating to fire doors, electrical safety, egress routes, emergency lights, fume exhaust systems, etc
  • Proficiency in mathematics, reading, critical thinking and both verbal and written communication skills
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Must be able to:
  • Bend, stoop and work in awkward positions for several hours at a time
  • Climb and work from ladders, scaffolding and scissor lifts
  • Carry, lift or otherwise move items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Stand and walk continuously throughout the workday
  • Work in inclement weather conditions
