Job Summary
The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics at the University of Colorado Boulder is encouraging applications for a Research Scientist at the RS2 level to study energetic particles in Earth's magnetosphere, including wave generation, wave-particle interactions, and radiation belt dynamics. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with Prof. Lauren Blum and other group members at LASP.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- The research will consist of accurate radiation belt modeling and forecasting, as well as analysis of particle and field measurements from various current and past magnetospheric missions to better understand wave and particle processes influencing Earth’s radiation belts.
- Opportunities for instrument and mission development may also be available depending on the candidate’s experience and interests.

The initial appointment is for 1 year, with additional years contingent upon performance and funding. The nominal start date is January 2026.

- Relocation expenses up to the equivalent of one-months’ salary (taxable).
- $98,600.00 - $133,600.00 annual.

What We Require
- Ph.D. in physics, astronomy, aerospace, or closely related field by the start of the position.
- Proven experience in a scientific field applicable to space physics, in the modeling, forecasting, and/or analysis of in-situ and/or remote sensing datasets.
What You Will Need
Scientific programming proficiency (with programs such as Python, Matlab, and/or IDL).
What We Would Like You to Have
Prior experience analyzing measurements from Van Allen Probes, THEMIS, MMS, Arase, or other magnetospheric missions is beneficial but not required.
