Position Purpose:

This is a non-supervisory position. Make decisions and carry out job functions within the limits set by the Electric Metering Supervisor, Lead Meter Technician, and Company management. Perform job functions within assigned department, including, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • Metering systems construction, operation, and maintenance.
  • Control systems construction, operation, and maintenance relating to assigned functions.
  • Maintenance of records and reports relating to assigned functions.

Perform duties described for the Meter Technicain II and Meter Technician III.

Complete understanding of the characteristics, construction, adjustments, constants, and applications of all types of metering equipment. Test and repair all types of meters, test equipment, and accessories in the shop and in the field. Order repair parts and other metering equipment as needed.

Show by diagram and demonstrate the proper methods of bypassing, connecting for test, testing, calibrating, and repairing all types of meters. Have complete knowledge with poly-phase analyzers and the power factor of poly-phase metering circuits.

Perform various other metering jobs as required such as repair of instruments, field wiring, analysis of billing data , and directing of other employees when necessary. Utilize personal computers or other computer hardware/software as it relates to metering and processing metering data and information.

Be familiar with and perform the necessary functions to implement new metering software/hardware programs and integrate such programs into the Company's metering policies.

Qualifications for Meter Technician III:

  • Associate’s degree in Electronics or company acknowledged equivalent.
  • Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license based on the requirements of the State of New Hampshire and/or State where the employee resides.
  • Be available to respond to overtime work and emergency calls as requested.
  • Working knowledge of the NHPUC rules and regulations for electric service.
  • Working knowledge of the Company’s Tariff for electric service.
  • Working knowledge of Company Safety Rules and Company Policies and procedures.

Qualifications for Meter Technician II:

  • Associates Degree in Electronics or company acknowledged equivalent.
  • Possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operators license based on the requirements of the State of New Hampshire and/or State where the employee resides
  • Be proficient at requirements associated with Meter Technician III job qualifications
  • Reside within a specified geographical area in accordance with collective bargaining agreement
  • Ability to work the PC System software effectively
  • Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Be available to respond to overtime work and emergency calls as requested
  • Working knowledge of the Company's Tariff for Electric Service, Company Safety Rules, Company Policies, procedures and metering standards as well as PUC rules and regulations.

Qualifications for Meter Technician I:

  • Associates Degree in Electronics or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years experience in metering operations.
  • Have acquired a knowledge of poly-phase circuits and measurement. The job requires a working knowledge of transmission and distribution circuits and stations, electric service tariffs, New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission Rules and Regulations, and FERC which pertain to system operations and testing.
  • Be available and respond to metering calls, trouble calls and emergencies.

THIS NOTICE IS POSTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH ARTICLE VII OF OUR AGREEMENT WITH LOCAL UNION #1837, UNIT #1, INTERNATIONAL BROTHERHOOD OF ELECTRICAL WORKERS, DATED June 1, 2023.

HOURS: Hours shall be Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

WAGE: Ultimate rate - *$53.16 per hour, for a 40 hour week. Overtime rates in accordance with I.B.E.W. Agreement, Local #1837.

*Starting wage will be in accordance with Article 3.1, Sections A – C.
