Summary

You will serve as a Supervisory Park Ranger (Interpretive) with the National Park Service. This position is located in Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, in the Office of the Superintendent.

Major Duties

This position serves as Supervisory Park Ranger in the Department of Interior, National Park Service (NPS) at Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park (CHCH) in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. The primary purpose of this position is to function as the Supervisory Park Ranger planning, directing, and scheduling the work activities of permanent, term, and seasonal employees, and interns and volunteers. The incumbent also provides guidance and leadership in the decision-making process for interpretation, education, and visitor services programs (formal and informal programs) presented on- and off-site. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for the funding, planning, and development of interpretive and educational media products such as indoors and outdoors exhibits, films, and publications. The incumbent operates two visitor centers and serves as the park's collateral-duty public information officer, coordinating with the regional office communications office to respond to news media inquiries and manage the park website and social media platforms. Education

Requirements

Must be a U.S. Citizen or National. Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. Physical Demands: Work is mostly sedentary and office oriented but will be more physical when personally conducting outreach efforts, special events and working with volunteers. Events may require sustained periods of occasional strenuous physical activities standing, walking, climbing, hiking, and lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Work Environment: Most assignments are performed indoors in an office or in public areas. Some activities are outdoors with exposure to variances in weather and terrain, and wildlife such as snakes, stinging insects, and ticks.
