This position is located in Capulin Volcano National Monument with the Facilities Management Division. This position is being filled under the Field Unit Local Hiring Authority (FUL). See below under Additional Information for further eligibility guidance.Major Duties
This position is a Career-Seasonal appointment. Career Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work from approximately March - November, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year. This position performs the full range of custodial work including: Cleaning and servicing vault toilets, buildings, campgrounds, and emptying trash receptacles. Operating a government vehicle to perform assigned work. Provide general labor assistance to others in the maintenance of buildings, grounds, roads, trails, etc.... This is a uniformed position and must be able to occasionally interact with, and respond to, visitors, politely.Education

This position will be filled under the Field Unit Local Hiring Authority. Eligibility is limited to applicants who reside within the defined local commuting area at the time of application. For this announcement, the local commuting area is the area from which individuals can reasonably commute to the duty station under normal conditions. The defined vicinity for this position is within 75 miles of Capulin Volcano National Monument 46 Volcano Hwy Capulin NM 88414. Residency will be verified during the hiring process. This announcement may be used to fill additional positions if identical vacancies occur within 90 days of the issue date of the referral certificate. A selectee receiving a first appointment to the Federal Government (Civil Service) is entitled only to the lowest step of the grade for which selected. The display of a salary range on this vacancy shall not be construed as granting an entitlement to a higher rate of pay. Physical Demands: Moderately heavy physical effort is required when: using ladder and scaffolds to clean walls, ceilings, windows, ceiling fixtures, etc...; operating powered equipment; removing cans of or other containers of trash; and occasionally lifts objects weighing over 50 pounds. Working Conditions: Usually works indoors in areas which normally have adequate heat, light, and ventilation. Is exposed to vibration from heavy equipment and to skin irritations from strong cleaning solutions used in stripping floors, etc.... Care is required to avoid serious injuries when working on ladders and scaffolds and when using heavy powered equipment. Occasionally works outdoors in possible inclement weather conditions and/or extreme temperatures.
