What We Can Achieve Together:

In close collaboration with global, regional, and local teams, the Senior Finance Specialist provides highly specialized services in one or more of the following functions: leads financial analysis and reporting; financial management; accounting; auditing; grants administration, management controls and reporting; or similar financial activities for the Argentina and Southern Andes business units. The Senior Finance Specialist has a high level of expertise in their area of work; therefore, they are able to lead Business Unit and/or Regional projects with impact over results. The position administers and maintains finance/accounting activities in accordance with TNC policies and procedures and best practices in financial/organizational management. They will provide assistance, coaching and guidance to all levels of personnel in their specialty area. They respond to complex employee/management questions and problems based on advanced knowledge of the subject area. This position supervises staff.

We are looking for you to bring vital skills to support the Argentina and Southern Andes business units, supporting our global strategy, having:

  • Strategic vision: Identify new opportunities ensuring the integration of stakeholders throughout processes and tasks while ensuring that business and finance are aligned to planning. They will bring the ability to integrate between different areas of the business, aligning results, objectives, purposes with the business while communicating adequately and making assertive decisions in times of crisis.

  • Analytical and holistic view: Has organizational vision followed by actions in other areas of the business. They are a team-building facilitator, with a view of the whole, communicating between managers and decision-makers, leading for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) in congruence with all departments and TNC’s code of conduct.

Responsibilities & Scope:

  • Follows our Code of Conduct and consistently demonstrates our Values

  • Works toward meeting the strategic priorities of the program by developing and coordinating tactics for approved plans and completing day-to-day tasks.

  • Ensures programmatic commitments, TNC policies and procedures, financial standards and legal requirements are met and managed for compliance.

  • Reinforces consistency in the organization's policies and procedures and provides support related to relevant field.

  • May participate in complex negotiations.

  • Prepares / Coordinates financial processes of the Financial, Planning and Analysis area (FP&A) such as budgeting, forecasting, controlling, and reporting.

  • Leads, prepares and/or monitors monthly Business Unit financial reports. Supports the DFO in presenting to BU directors when needed.

  • Leads and coordinates ad-hoc projects to address key financial topics.

  • Attends related ad-hoc requests from Project Managers, Donors and/or other BUs due to cross-country managed awards given strategic guidance.

  • Provides recommendations and analysis related to Business Unit projects finances for project managers, grants, and accounts payable team.

  • May have experience in database management, in producing reports and the use of automated systems.

  • May deal with complex financial issues that will require deep analysis and technical expertise.

  • Serves as focal point on internal and external audits

  • Serves a focal point for related entities management (risk management, fiscal and tax issues, etc)

  • Leads year-end closing financial activities

  • May have responsibility as a bank approver

  • Leads processes related to cash management, bank reconciliations and other accounting adjustments

  • Ability to manipulate, analyse and interpret data. Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel.

  • Good problem-solving skills.

  • Experience working with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field and 5 years related experience or equivalent combination.

  • Finance / Accounting experience; Experience with relational databases.

  • Technical experience with grants award accounting issues (or ability to learn this quickly).

  • Experience using accounting and financial reporting systems.

  • Fluency in Spanish and English

  • Experience generating financial reports, and analyzing and interpreting data;

  • Experience developing and administering departmental budgets or equivalent;

  • Experience negotiating agreements;

  • Experience collaborating with teams across an organization; and

  • Supervisory experience including setting objectives, managing performance, and conflict resolution.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Multi-lingual skills and/or multi-cultural experience appreciated.

  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.

  • Non-profit accounting experience preferred.

  • Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Knowledge of current trends in specific field.
