We’re Looking for You:
The Conservation Proposal Developer will enable success in fundraising by translating conservation teams’ theories of change and systemic approaches into high impact and quality proposals, and by designing narrative and value propositions that resonate with philanthropic partners, private-sector and public funding opportunities. The role will proactively map new opportunities and engagement to connect conservation impact with donor and corporate priorities. It is a highly collaborative role that will coordinate across teams in Chile (conservation programs, leadership teams, MEL, Policy, Finance, Communications), LAR and Global, and it acts as a bridge between Conservation and resource mobilization teams (Development, Corporate Engagement, Public Funding).
She/he is responsible for proposals and other documentation and participates actively in relevant material to engage existing and potential Donors and others fundraising suspects.
The Conservation Proposal Developer coordinates the Funding Pillar within the Chile Strategic Plan, develops the resourcing plan, tracks funding pipeline information working in close collaboration with the leadership team.
She/he will be responsible for managing TNC´s guidelines, and standards for funding proposals and liaises with regional and other Business Units’ staff to ensure the work is aligned and best practices are implemented. She/he will report to the Conservation Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE
The Chile Conservation Proposal Developer:
Translates conservation teams’ theories of change and systemic approaches into high impact, clear and quality proposals. Designs narrative and value propositions that resonate with philanthropic partners, private-sector and public funding opportunities.
Leads proposal design and writing in English and Spanish as required from a strategical perspective in coordination with the Conservation leaders, their teams and with the support of MEL, policy, communication and financial teams.
Coordinates the Funding Pillar within the Chile Strategic Plan, develops the resourcing plan, tracks funding pipeline information working in close collaboration with the leadership team.
Identify, screen, select, coordinate the teams and apply to public funding opportunities, working closely with policy and public funding teams across the organization.
Map, research and prioritize donors assessing their interests and conservation priorities to identify win-win alignment opportunities for conservation impact and donor value.
Supports teams in budget construction for the proposals, specifically for large scale multi-program proposals, in strong coordination with financial team.
Develops visually high-quality presentations and proposal material, ensuring professional design, formatting and effectively engage audiences.
Serves as an expert on donor and TNC requirements to ensure alignment between donor and TNC priorities within proposal narratives and related materials.
Manage end-to-end fundraising meetings, from coordinating internal preparation meetings, synthesis of outcomes, and presentation of the proposal (if needed), defining next steps and following the process.
Prepares documentation to support the fundraising process, such as fact sheets, pitch decks, briefs, annual reports, and stewardship reports to engage existing and potential donors.
Provides coordination support to keep proposals moving in a timely manner, meeting deadlines, ensuring compliance with internal TNC approval processes to meet specific goals and funding targets.
Guarantees compliance with specific donor’s guidelines for the construction of proposals (technical and financial)
Builds strong teamwork and collaboration efforts along with finance, grants, development, conservation experts, MEL, communications to get the work done.
Provides conservation information to the communication specialist to develop communicational contents for fundraising purposes.
Meets assigned timelines for preparing funding proposals and any other responsibility related to his/her position.
Develops and manages a bank of proposals through the collection of ideas from previous proposals, successful proposals from other business units, as well as a file of new proposals.
Participates as an active collaborator on the LAR regional level to share lessons learned and best practices with other peers that work on public fundraising.
Provides technical support to follow TNC internal procedures related to the fundraising process including information to inform BU and LAR funding pipelines.
Coordinates with the Global and LAR Public Fundraising & Development Teams (Private and Major Donors) on strategic alignment for donor intent and TNC priorities.
Coordinates with the Corporate Engagement teams on strategic alignment for corporate opportunities.
Does not supervise staff but coordinates the work of peers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
BS degree and 5 years working or equivalent combination of education and experience in similar tasks.
Experience in writing and editing funding proposals for public and private donors.
Experience in fundraising.
Excellent command of Spanish and English to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
Ability to transform conservation ideas into proposals, ensure content is accurate and easy to read, and knowledge of how and when to use data in a funding proposal.
Experience in organizing information coming from multiple stakeholders for funding proposal preparation.
Excellent communication skills.
Experience communicating with the public and/or media both in writing and verbally.
Experience using applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Web Browsers.
Research skills.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
Ability to explain conservation practices to technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience presenting / explaining complex topics to diverse audiences including some or all the following: internal and external executives, donors, members, board members, and the public or equivalent.
Knowledge and expertise in developing theories of transformational change and related methodologies.
Knowledge of design programs.
Familiarity with communication technologies and best practices.
Knowledge and application of current and evolving trends in environmental policies and conservation actions.
