Position Overview

As a Utility Tree Trimmer, you can rest assured that one day will never be the same as the other. In this role you will have a chance to travel to several work sites across a geographic area and put your certification as either a Certified Utility Arborist or Utility Tree Trimmer to work as you safely execute trimming for our utility clients; the work you do will ensure the ongoing and safe transmission of electricity.

Job Duties

  • Provides line clearing and tree trimming services for major electric utility providers and rail customers.
  • Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and crew leader.
  • Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
  • Removal of hazardous trees.
  • Removal or trimming of trees and brush encroaching onto utility or transportation rights of ways.
  • Properly maintain, prepare, and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.
  • Responsible for job site set up, clean up.
  • Abide by Davey and industry safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Certified Arborist or Utility Tree Trimmer designation required or equivalent.
  • Experience performing pruning and removals from rope and saddle and/or aerial lift.
  • Utility tree trimming and climbing experience preferred.
  • Valid provincial driver’s license. Licensed to drive a 5-ton vehicle and air brake endorsement considered an asset.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work safely as part of a team and possess the willingness to learn and progress.

  • Pay Range $30.00 - $40.00 for Certified Utility Arborists.
