Position Overview

Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc., a Davey company, is seeking an experienced (5+ years of related professional experience), highly motivated Ecologist or Environmental Scientist to join our growing team in Louisville, Kentucky. The right person for this position will have a passion for restoring degraded streams and wetlands, a strong work ethic with a commitment to innovation, and excellent communication skills. The role will be a mixture of fieldwork and office-based work. PWS preferred.

Job Duties

The ideal candidate will add to an experienced team working on all aspects of stream and wetland restoration, including:
• Wetland delineations and stream assessments
• Vegetation surveys and vegetation community mapping
• Developing vegetation establishment and maintenance plans for stream and wetland restoration projects
• Threatened and Endangered Species studies
• Mapping exotic/invasive species and recommending management strategies
• Developing vegetation establishment and maintenance plans for stream and wetland restoration projects
• Mentoring early career environmental scientists and interns, and working collaboratively with the design team
• Meeting with project stakeholders, sponsors, and regulatory agency representatives
• Report and proposal preparation

Qualifications

MINIMUM
• Bachelors degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, conservation, or related field
• 5-7 years of experience working in the natural resources field performing ecological consulting work
• Strong botanical identification skills
• Familiarity with stream restoration industry and associated regulations (401/404)
• Familiarity with Section 7 consultation process
• Excellent writing and critical thinking skills
• Ability to travel regionally
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record

PREFERRED
• Professional Wetland Scientist (Society of Wetland Scientists Professional Certification Program)
