What you will accomplish
- While working in a multi-discipline team, you will be collaborating with botanists, wildlife biologists, soil scientists, geomorphologists, landscape architects, hydrologists, restoration engineers, and planners.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to support projects including permit packages, environmental planning documents, feasibility assessments, survey planning, biological monitoring, restoration planning, general reporting, visual presentations, and overall project management.
- You will have a passion for natural resources, the capacity to learn, the desire to challenge yourself by developing new approaches and strategies, and communicate with team members and clients (verbal and writing)
- Lead and manage complex environmental planning and regulatory compliance projects involving CEQA, land use, habitat conservation, and infrastructure planning.
- Provide strategic guidance on environmental review, permitting pathways, biological mitigation, and environmental risk management.
- Support habitat conservation planning (HCP/MSCP) and mitigation program development and implementation.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies including CDFW, USFWS, RWQCB, USACE, and local jurisdictions.
- Develop and review environmental documentation, regulatory strategies, and technical reports.
- Mentor staff and support multidisciplinary team collaboration.
Experience and qualifications for success
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field.
- 15+ years of experience in environmental planning, regulatory compliance, habitat conservation, restoration, or related fields.
- Extensive experience with CEQA and environmental permitting compliance and environmental review processes.
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and permitting.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Experience preparing complex planning and technical documents
- Proven ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills as well as ability to multitask.
