GENERAL DESCRIPTION:The Administration & Information Accounting Department provides essential fiscal services and guidance to agencies across the State of Wyoming while delivering exceptional customer service to both internal partners and external vendors. The department plays a critical role in ensuring accurate financial operations, accountability, and responsive support throughout the State government.
This position provides fiscal guidance, accounting support, and customer service for vendors and State employees associated with State Motor Pool, Employees’ Group Insurance, and several State boards. Responsibilities include assisting with financial processes, maintaining accurate records, resolving account issues, and supporting day-to-day fiscal operations with professionalism and attention to detail.

- Ensures subsidiary systems balance with control accounts and investigates and corrects discrepancies.
- Reviews, monitors, and controls amounts expended from the budget(s) to ensure expenditures do not exceed funds available.
- Applies established accounting procedures and regulations in maintaining financial records or other fiscal documents.
- Prepares and interprets financial reports, ensuring they are clear, comprehensive, and in compliance with state financial reporting standards.
- Provides technical assistance in budget preparation, including advising on budget allocations and financial forecasting.
- Participates in cost allocation calculations to ensure accurate financial tracking across different departments and projects.
- Post charges, refunds, and revenues to individual accounts, including computing and verifying balances to maintain accurate financial records.
- Enters assigned divisions' and agencies' financial data into the accounting system, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
- Processes all ACH bank returns, NSFs, and W9s for all assigned divisions/agencies, ensuring timely and accurate processing of financial documents.
- Prepares inventory tags and completes fixed asset shells, maintaining detailed records of all state-owned assets.
- Reviews fixed asset disposals for agencies statewide to ensure compliance with disposal protocols and accurate record-keeping.
- Coordinates and completes annual inventory reports, providing detailed assessments of the state’s inventory and its condition.
- Maintains vehicle titles for agencies statewide, ensuring that all vehicles are properly documented and titled.
- Maintains the building and location list for all state-owned and leased buildings, providing an up-to-date inventory of all state properties.
- Assists with the interpretation of Wyoming statutes, rules, and regulations, ensuring that all financial activities comply with state laws and regulations.
- Produces correspondence related to financial transactions and accounting activities, ensuring clear and professional communication.
Qualifications

PREFERENCES:
Preference will be given to employees with state experience.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of budgets and cost controls.
- Knowledge of financial statement preparation or the establishment of systems.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of WOLFS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:Associate's Degree (typically in Finance)Experience:0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Accounting ClerkOREducation & Experience Substitution:2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Accounting ClerkCertificates, Licenses, Registrations:None Necessary Special Requirements

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Typical office environment.
- Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, etc.
NOTES:- FLSA: Non-Exempt
- This position is a full-time teleworking position. Applicant must have the ability to telework, with the flexibility to report to the office as necessary.
