GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Join the Wyoming Game and Fish Department for an exciting five-month opportunity to work hands-on in fisheries conservation across Wyoming. This position supports the statewide spawning crew with egg and gamete collection from wild salmonid populations and captive hatchery brood stocks, playing an important role in sustaining Wyoming’s fisheries resources. Experience the unique opportunity to assist in planning and conducting annual helicopter fish stocking operations while also contributing to fish hatchery operations through stocking, construction projects, grounds maintenance, and daily hatchery work. - Duties will include, but not be limited to, capturing and spawning wild fish using a variety of capture methods, including electro-fishing, trap nets, in-stream weirs, and gill nets.
- Assist with spawning research, data collection, and data entry.
- Be a self-starter and, at times, comfortable working alone.
- Using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and other equipment.
- Servicing and maintaining tools and equipment.

PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Preference may be given to those with a high school diploma and one year of experience in fishery and wildlife management or college coursework towards a degree in fishery and wildlife management, biology, or ichthyology.
Preference may be given to those who attach a resume and cover letter with their online state application. Cover letters should include career plans, education, applicable class work to the position, experience, and dates available for employment.
**The agency requires that the successful applicant possess a valid driver's license.
KNOWLEDGE:- Of fish, fisheries, spawning practices, and general fish egg care.
- How to operate watercraft, 4WD vehicles, ATVs, and experience pulling trailers.
- Maintaining equipment and facilities.

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Extended travel (4-7 days) and overnight stays in campers to maintain and operate fish spawning & trapping operations.
- Working outdoors, in remote areas, and in various environmental conditions.
- At times, work may be performed during irregular work hours.
- Some occasional lifting will be necessary.
NOTES:
- FLSA: Non-exempt
- The start date for this position is flexible, starting either June 1st or June 16, and running to October 31st, 2026.
- Housing is provided for this position, and may be a combination of campers and a house.
- Applicants should be interested in or pursuing a career in fisheries, wildlife, or resource management.
- Waders, uniforms, rain gear, and other necessary gear will be provided.
- No previous fisheries experience is required.
