GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Assist in the repair and maintenance of the facilities, equipment and properties within Keyhole State Park. Train and direct the work of temporary employees as they enhance the beauty and accessibility of the park, improving visitor experience and fostering professionalism among the workforce.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed in the job level.


  • Assess and complete maintenance needs for site grounds, facilities, water systems, and roads.
  • Maintain, construct, repair, and install new facilities. Assist with site planning. Maintain inventory of all site facilities.
  • Clean restrooms and provide janitorial services in all facilities.
  • General maintenance, including mowing and trimming, maintaining roads, trails, culverts, creek beds, ditches, and fencing, picking up trash, emptying trash cans, coordinating dumpster deliveries and removal, and snow removal.
  • General building maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
  • Maintain inventory of all site equipment and vehicles. Assess site needs and maintain all site equipment and vehicles.
  • Operate all site equipment and vehicles. Diagnose and troubleshoot problems. Provide routine servicing and keep in good working order.
  • Make recommendations for repairs, maintenance, and replacements.
  • Assist the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent with park operations.
  • Assist in requesting and receiving bid and price quotes from vendors.
  • Check property, equipment, and inventory for accuracy.
  • Assist with overall site and visitor safety and security.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


PREFERENCES:


Preference may be given to applicants with three (3) or more years of work experience in a skilled trade.


KNOWLEDGE:


  • Knowledge of equipment operation, including tractors, mowers, and snow blowers
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills
  • Knowledge of power and manual tools
  • Skills related to grounds and facilities maintenance, repair, and construction.
  • Knowledge of and skills in the protection of natural and cultural resources.
  • Skill in the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment, machinery, and vehicles.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:
0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in parks maintenance)

OR

Education & Experience Substitution:
1-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in parks maintenance)

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
None

Necessary Special Requirements


PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions


NOTES:
  • FLSA: Non-Exempt
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license; CDL is preferred.
  • Required within one year of hire as a condition of employment
    • Level 1 Water Distribution Certification
    • Weed and Pest Commercial Applicator's License
    • First Aid, CPR, and AED
