GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This position provides essential support to the Wyoming State Veterinarian and the Animal Health Division of the Wyoming Livestock Board (WLSB). The role is instrumental in maintaining accurate records and supporting animal health programs, with a focus on work related to mitigation herd plans and brucellosis management.

Key responsibilities include processing, maintaining, and evaluating records and documents that require knowledge of animal health practices and sound judgment. The position also assists with field activities by providing documentation support and contributes to the maintenance of spatial data and mapping systems.

In addition, this role supports agency operations through data entry and record management across various software platforms, including those related to cooperative agreements, funding, and travel. The incumbent serves as a point of contact for incoming communications, managing phone calls and messages to ensure effective information flow.

This position also conducts research, prepares reports, and assists professional staff with technical documents and presentations, contributing to informed decision-making and program success.

  • Processing, maintenance, and evaluation of records and documents related to mitigation herd plans, including judgment and knowledge of animal health and brucellosis issues.
  • Documentation assistance during field activities.
  • Maintenance of spatial data and mapping programs.
  • Entry and maintenance of agency data using various software programs, including cooperative agreement funding, travel, and related programs.
  • Answering agency phones and disseminating calls/messages.
  • Conducting research, creating reports, and assisting professional staff with technical documents and presentations.

Qualifications

PREFERENCES:

Preference may be given to a candidate majoring in or currently holding an animal science degree or with experience in animal science.


KNOWLEDGE:



  • Knowledge of basic software, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and similar programs, is essential to the position.
    Knowledge of applicable state laws, rules, regulations, WLSB policies and procedures governing assigned duties in performance of contract.

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • This position works in an office setting with occasional outdoor activities involving livestock.



NOTES:



  • FLSA: Non-exempt
  • This is an at-will contracted position.
  • If federal cooperative agreement funding is not obtained, the contract can and will be cancelled.
