GENERAL DESCRIPTION:The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is an agency committed to providing a safe, high-quality, and efficient transportation system for the State of Wyoming. WYDOT is seeking a Field Data Collection & Lab Analysis Technician to perform roadway and bridge deck testing activities.
Under limited supervision, performs roadway and bridge deck testing activities, data collection, traffic control, and safety of assigned section in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, and WYDOT specifications with limited supervision and instruction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed in the job level.- This position requires extensive weekly statewide travel
- Assists in the investigation of existing roadways and bridges
- Assists in the collection of data, testing, gathering samples, and providing a safe work zone
- Reviews and analyzes collected data for accuracy
- Reviews and learns traffic control methods, manuals, and procedures
- Work in a safe manner around equipment in the work zone. Assist in the setup, maintenance, and removal of traffic control under live traffic conditions.
- Performs traffic control duties (Flagging) to ensure the safety of the crew
- Cleans, maintains, and repairs equipment, cleans, vacuums, greases, and oils equipment daily
- Ensures that equipment is accurate and operating properly, and performs repairs when needed
- Participates in meetings and WYDOT Beginning Lab school, and other miscellaneous duties as assigned
Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE:- Knowledge of test methods and specifications, mathematics (algebra level), Materials Program/WYDOT procedures
- Skills in working with mechanical devices, computer operation, and communication (oral and written)
- Ability to follow procedures, learn and read new procedures, get along with co-workers, read technical manuals, write test data legibly, travel, and perform monotonous daily duties with accuracy
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:Associate's Degree (typically in Engineering or Physical Sciences)Experience:0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in a Transportation occupational group and Laboratory) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Field Data Collection and Lab Analysis AssistantOREducation & Experience Substitution:2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in a Transportation occupational group and Laboratory) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Field Data Collection and Lab Analysis AssistantCertificates, Licenses, Registrations:None

- Internal candidates would be required to remain in the position for a minimum of one (1) year from their promotion date.
- Employees would only be eligible for one (1) hiring bonus in a 12-month period.
- If the employee elects to downgrade through an active recruitment and/or appointment during the twelve (12) month period, they would be required to pay the bonus back.
