GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Assist the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent at Curt Gowdy State Park and the Laramie District including, but not limited to grounds, facilities, vehicle, equipment, operation and maintenance, supervision of seasonal maintenance staff, water system operation, providing excellent customer service, electrical repair, assisting at the front desk, and general public safety to ensure the facility functions at its highest level.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed in the job level.

  • Assist with the cyclical maintenance program.
  • Make recommendations for capital development.
  • Routinely inspect buildings and grounds, identifying those areas that require maintenance, repair, or improvement.
  • Safely operate and maintain a wide variety of power and handheld tools.
  • Work with a supervisor to prioritize and schedule projects.
  • Purchase supplies and materials.
  • Assist with projects.
  • Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Assist with the operation and maintenance of water systems.
  • Safely operate, inspect, and maintain a wide variety of vehicles and equipment.
  • Correctly and timely complete monthly purchase card reports and time sheets.
  • Assist with fee collection and reporting.
  • Assist with the reservation system.
  • Assist with traffic counter data collection.
  • Professionally respond to emails, inquiries, visitor complaints, and comments.
  • Assist with site events and interpretive programming needs.
  • Assist in rescues and emergencies within the park.
  • Assist with directing work and quality control for seasonal employees.
  • Assist in safety training meetings with seasonal employees.

Qualifications


PREFERENCES:

Preference may be given to applicants with three (3) or more years of professional experience in park maintenance or related maintenance work.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Skills related to grounds and facilities maintenance, repair, and construction.
  • Working knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment, machinery, and vehicles.
  • Knowledge of natural and cultural resource protection principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and agency policies, rules, and procedures on a variety of issues.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Education:

Associate’s Degree

Experience:

0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in parks maintenance)

OR

Education & Experience Substitution:

2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in parks maintenance)

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

None

Necessary Special Requirements

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work will be performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Work on weekends, nights, and holidays will be required.
