GENERAL DESCRIPTION:This position is responsible for assisting with the maintenance of the buildings and grounds, vehicles, equipment, and water and septic systems at Buffalo Bill State Park.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed in the job level.
- Perform necessary site maintenance, including identifying and prioritizing work, purchasing supplies, and materials.
- Routinely inspect the buildings, vehicles, equipment, grounds, and facilities. Identifying areas that require maintenance, repair, and improvement.
- Maintain roads and sidewalks.
- Clean and sanitize the vault restrooms, and the office and shower house flush toilet areas, including assisting the septic pumper service with removing trash from the vaults.
- Assist in the maintenance and monitoring of the septic systems.
- Plant and maintain trees, lawn care, and landscaping.
- Repair and maintain equipment, facilities, tools, and vehicles.
- Assist with the supervision and work direction of seasonal employees.
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Ensure the trailer dump stations are in operating condition and the sewer lines are operational.
- Perform weed control spraying.
- Utilize specific skills while performing carpentry work, welding/ fabrication, mowing, irrigation, painting, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, and janitorial duties.
- Assist with annual building inspections and traffic counters. Accurately report findings.
- Assist with the operation of the site's Level 1 WYDEQ potable drinking water well systems, including winterization and seasonal startup procedures.
- Maintain potable water distribution systems and maintain six water wells, including sprinkler and bubbler irrigation systems, winterization, and startup.
- Assist in monitoring chlorine levels and making adjustments to maintain a safe mg/l residual.
- Perform, monitor, mix, and safely handle chemicals for the water system and in the shop.
- Collect water samples and ship them to the laboratory promptly.
- Repair any broken waterlines, chemical pumps, and hydrants.
- Assist in changing well pumps for all water well systems.
- Check and maintain the two domestic potable water systems to ensure they are operating properly and that the water is safe to drink. Perform proper winterization and seasonal startup.
- Assist with sanitary surveys and correct findings promptly. Monitor, maintain, and repair water system chlorination pumps and adjust solutions for safe drinking water.
- Complete monthly purchasing card reports, gas log, traffic counter data, MVMS records, septic tank monitoring, and time sheets promptly.
- Assists with fee collection/reporting in an accurate and timely manner.
- Assist with the reservation system.. Distribute fee envelopes and rules and regulation documents. Assist with the sale of park and ORV permits.
- Assist with monitoring the park's web weather station, reservoir levels, and boat docks.
- Assist with compiling inventories of park property and supplies and determining park needs.
- Assist Park Rangers by reporting vandalism or violations of the park rules and regulations. Assist other state, federal or local governments with a professional work attitude.
- Provide exceptional customer service.
Qualifications

PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Preference may be given to applicants with trades skills in building and grounds, and vehicle operation and maintenance.
**Must obtain Level 1 Water Distribution System Certification within 1 year of hire.KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of hazmat laws and regulations; commercial pesticide application.
- Knowledge of basic carpentry, construction, plumbing, welding, fabrication, and electrical.
- Skills in operating and maintaining light and heavy machinery.
- Knowledge of shop tools to repair heavy machinery.
- Basic computer skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Education:Associate’s Degree
Experience:
0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in parks maintenance)
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in parks maintenance)
