We need your leadership skills to perform skilled engineering and repair work related to boiler operations at our Special Commitment Center (SCC) on McNeil Island in the picturesque Puget Sound. As a senior-level specialist, you’ll apply advanced technical knowledge in the overall operation and maintenance of high-pressure heating plants consisting of two or more boilers.
Special Commitment Center staff ride a passenger boat between Steilacoom and McNeil Island. The boat/ferry trip is approximately 20 minutes each way.
SCC employees receive an additional $10 per day premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and a free Orca card for transportation use.
Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.
The Shift: Day Shift - Sunday to Wednesday 6:00am - 4:00pm.
Some of what you'll do- Lead and oversee the day-to-day work load for the Steam plant operations
- Supervise preventative maintenance programs and monitor daily log of activities
- Evaluate operating issues and help bring them to resolution
- Maintain budget and cost control devices necessary for efficient production of steam, electricity, clean air and chilled water.
- Recommend and assist in planning for expansion and improvements of Steam plant facilities and equipment
- Ensures that all the equipment are repaired and maintained to meet required operation and regulatory standards set forth by TJC, CMS and Fire Marshall
What we're looking for- Ability to lead and train employees in performing skilled Steam plant work
- Plan, layout, and assign work and give clear, concise instructions
- Establish and monitor appropriate housekeeping procedures and safety standards of all assigned areas
- Prepare and maintain basic project reports and records including the completion of work requests
- Work proficiently with computer programs: Excel, Powerpoint, Word and Assetplanner

Who should apply
Applicable steam engineer's license
and
Four years supervisory experience with power plant operations, including feed water systems, coal, gas, and fuel oil fire high-pressure boiler systems and all auxiliary equipment, water chilling systems, and related combustion controls and safety devices.
