The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has an exciting opportunity within our WFMD Incident Business group as a Fire Fiscal Analyst 1. The Fiscal Analyst 1 will work closely with other team members to analyze various reports, conduct research, and compile documents related to Wildland Fire expenditures and Fire Management Assistant Grant (FMAG) claims. Another key duty of this position will be performing day-to-day fiscal tasks, including coding, preparing payable requests, and reviewing outstanding receivables. Additionally, the position will assist with fiscal yearend tasks for the Wildland Fire Management Division. This Fiscal Analyst 1 is part of the Incident Business Team and will provide backup support to other team members as needed during periods of high workload. Duties

Responsibilities:
- Compile and analyze documentation for Wildland Fire Expenditures associated with Fire Management Assistance Grants (FMAG).
- Review/code Wildland Fire payables and prepare invoice payment requests (IPRs).
- Assist with special projects as assigned: Ad hoc reports, documentation retrieval, assistance with fiscal year-end close, and gathering documentation for litigation requests.

OR a combination of relevant experience and/or education. - Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Required Competencies:- Ability to analyze and interpret financial reports.
- Collect and organize financial data in accordance with prescribed guidance.
- Effectively prioritize tasks by importance and urgency to ensure key responsibilities are fulfilled.
- Organizational skills to create and maintain files, and dedication to accuracy with an eye for detail.
- Understand basic accounting procedures like journal entry creation (including preparation of supporting documentation), debits/credits, and review and running basic reports.
- Understand, apply, and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations, including GAAP.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to function in a high-performing team.

- Works in an open cubicle located on the 4th floor of the Natural Resources building and is subject to noise and interruptions.
- Periodic visits to DNR facilities may be required, but will generally remain in Thurston County.
These qualifications are not required. However, it can help you stand out as a candidate and should be highlighted in your application material.- Associate degree (to include 18 quarter or 12 semester hours of accounting, auditing, or budget management credits).
- Experience using Washington state financial systems, such as the Agency Financial Reporting System (AFRS), FES, and NaturE.
- User-end experience with Workday or similar ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems.
- Proficiency in applications such as Microsoft Teams, Microsoft SharePoint, and basic Microsoft Excel formulas.
- One (1) year of relevant experience in accounting, budgeting, finance, or payroll;
