Farewell Bend State Recreation Area features a beautiful desert experience on the banks of the Snake River's Brownlee Reservoir. Historic markers and interpretive displays provide visitors with information on Farewell Bend's significance on the Oregon Trail. The RV and tent campsites make excellent base camps as you explore the Snake River Water Trail and other regional attractions
Your New Role
As a seasonal, full-time Park Ranger 1, you will perform, conduct and oversee a variety of tasks in order to protect, maintain, operate and repair state park lands, natural and cultural resources, structures, facilities, equipment and systems. You will accomplish this by using skills in building trades, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting and landscape maintenance, as well as specialized program skills (e.g.: resource interpretation, cultural and natural resource restoration, utility infrastructure operation, park rule enforcement, etc.) related to the maintenance and operations of OPRD programs, properties within the Farewell Bend Management Unit.
We recruit for seasonal positions each year that generally work April through September; however, the duration may vary depending on the park's specific needs.

Minimum Qualifications:
Two (2) years of visitor services experience (e.g. rule enforcement; interpretation such as education and environmental awareness programs; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping).
OR
An Associate's degree or higher in Park and Recreation Administration or Natural Resource Management, Environmental Studies or a related field; AND Six (6) months of visitor services experience (e.g. rule enforcement; interpretation such as education and environmental awareness programs; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping).
Special Requirements:
To be hired, a criminal record and driving record check must be completed that meets OPRD Criteria at the time of hire, and throughout employment while also maintaining a valid driver’s license.
Desired Attributes:
Skill in facilities maintenance, including cleaning restrooms, showers, maintenance shops, and offices.
Professional experience in making change, balancing a till, and reconciling fees in campground situation.
Skill in working both independently and in a professional parks team setting.
Professional experience operating tools, equipment, 4x4 vehicles, ATV's and boats.
Skill in rule enforcement and generating voluntary compliance in a park setting.
Skill in providing customer service, and registering campground guests in a computerized reservation system.
