The Department of Administrative Services (DAS) is seeking a skilled Facility Energy Technician 4 to help manage and optimize building energy systems across state-owned facilities. The Department of Administrative Services (DAS) supports Oregon's state government by managing resources like finances, technology, and human resources. It provides essential services to help state agencies operate efficiently. The Enterprise Asset Management unit oversees property, fleet, and surplus assets, ensuring effective use and maintenance.

What You Will Do

As a senior-level technician, you’ll manage Energy Management Systems (EMS) and HVAC controls in state-owned and leased buildings, ensuring energy efficiency, safety, and comfort.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Setting up and analyzing building energy trends to support conservation efforts.

  • Creating and modifying control schemes and programs for Building Automation Systems.

  • Configuring and maintaining Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems and networks.

  • Troubleshooting and repairing HVAC control systems.

  • Performing system commissioning with HVAC staff and contractors.

  • Managing building schedules, emergency systems, and real-time data for energy optimization.

  • Training and overseeing team members in HVAC controls and related programming.

What We Are Looking For

Minimum (Required) Qualifications:

Completion of a recognized HVAC/R apprenticeship program or a two-year HVAC/R accredited trade school in heating and air-conditioning or refrigeration AND four years of full-time experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position;

OR

Six years of full-time experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position;

OR

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Desired Attributes:

The most competitive candidates will possess the following attributes, experience, and knowledge.

  • HVAC & Energy Systems: Experience with HVAC installation, maintenance, and energy monitoring. Familiar with BACnet and DDC systems.

  • Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety protocols for confined spaces, adverse weather, and lifting techniques.

  • Tool Use: Skilled with hand and power tools for maintenance and repairs.

  • Problem-Solving: Able to troubleshoot and fix equipment issues.

  • Attention to Detail: Precise in measurements and installation to ensure systems function properly.

  • Technical Skills: Familiar with HVAC systems, basic energy management programming, and task management software.

  • Teamwork & Communication: Effective working both independently and with a team, with strong communication skills.

  • These certifications are helpful to have:

    • Limited Maintenance Electrician (LME)

    • Limited Energy Technician Class A (LEA)

    • Class B (LEB) or equivalent

    • Boiler-Class 3 Service Mechanic License

    • Universal Refrigerant Handling Certification
