Natural Resource Specialist 4 - District Operations Coordinator:
As the District Operations Coordinator you will provide District expertise and guidance to supervisors, peers and co-workers for State Forest operations and achieve district and agency goals, and the strategic directions described by adopted forest management plans, the Board of Forestry Vision for Oregon Forests, Agency Strategic Plan and Department's Mission and Vision. This position will manage technical aspects for operations and land management to implement policy and direction as set by the department through the District Forester. Additional duties are:
- Develop and review plans and coordinate or assist in the implementation of plans and strategies at the Unit level.
- This position is the point of contact with Area, Salem, and other districts for implementation by providing analysis and recommendations and addressing landowner issues.
- Provide operational leadership and coordination through recommendations and analysis to the Tillamook District State Forest.
- Provide data and quality review of activities to assure forest roads, land surveying, timber sales, road construction, R/W access, reforestation, recreation and other state forests projects are carried out in an integrated manner on state forest land in the district.
- Monitor and report on the implementation of District Annual Operations Plans.
- Work with law enforcement, State Forest teams, adjacent districts and other partners to address and resolve landowner issues.
Here is what you need to Qualify:
Three years of experience in Natural Resource Management such as Forestry, Wildlife or Aquatics, or Recreation. At least one year of the experience must be at a technical or professional level performing activities in a natural resource program such as researching and analyzing data, conducting investigations, applying pertinent laws and regulations, or coordinating and monitoring project activities.
AND
a Bachelor's degree in Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Wildlife, Environmental Science, or Recreation, OR three additional years of related Forestry, Wildlife or Aquatics, or Recreation experience.
A Master's degree in Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Wildlife, Environmental Science, or Recreation will substitute for up to one year of the required experience.
Note: Driver’s License Check - This position requires the operation of a state vehicle for the purpose of conducting official State business. If your license is from outside Oregon, you must submit at least a three-year court/DMV printout. If you have an Oregon driver’s license, a record check will be conducted on the top candidate.
Desired Skills:
- Experience providing leadership and coordination through recommendations and analysis.
- Experience reviewing and evaluating contracts and professional services contracts.
- Experience gathering and analyzing technical or scientific information and drawing conclusions or making recommendations.
- Experience communicating verbally and in writing with a variety of people to answer questions and explain information.
- Experience writing clear and concise status, summary, technical, or narrative reports.
- The ability to occasionally work efficiently in the field in an arduous work environment.
