The Department of Corrections (DOC) Public Affairs Division is recruiting a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Program Manager to join our team. This position is located at the DOC Headquarters in Salem, Oregon. This position may be approved for remote work. We are looking for a highly organized, execution-oriented professional to lead monitoring, evaluation and improvement of policies and practices furthering equity and inclusion in the work of the agency.

About the Job – Your Role
The Diversity Equity and Inclusion Program Manager will collaboratively develop and lead agency DEI programs that impact both employees and adults in custody. This position assists in implementing and adapting the agency's long-range equity and inclusion plans, goals, objectives, and milestones across multiple divisions and evaluating program effectiveness. The individual in this role plans, coordinates, and promotes efforts to track and report on the impact of DOC policies and strategies promoting equity and racial justice, in close collaboration with a range of internal and external partners.
The position requires collaborative teamwork, a willingness to share information, and contribute to a respectful and productive work environment. Specifically:
- Manage multiple projects to implement the agency’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Action Plan and Affirmative Action Plan.
- Create, with direction from the Executive Team, and execute DEI initiatives aligned with organizational goals.
- Work to progress employee inclusion through DOC’s partnership with Gallup.
- Assess current DEI practices and identify areas for improvement.
- Collect, analyze, and report out on data to measure the effectiveness of DEI initiatives.
- Work with external organizations, networks, and communities to enhance DEI efforts.
- Benchmark best practices and incorporate them into the organization's DEI strategies. Report findings and progress to senior leadership and stakeholders
- Engage teams in dialogue by answering questions, offering guidance, and serving as an advisor on DEI.
- Collaborate on the creation of training curriculum and facilitate training programs to promote understanding, respect, and inclusion.
- Assist multiple divisions in interpreting and adapting agency equity frameworks to ensure that all Oregonians can successfully access the agency's services and employment opportunities regardless of their identity.
- Staff and contribute to internal and external task forces and work groups.
- Create and present reports on the agency’s progress related to equity, inclusion, and retention of a diverse workforce.

Minimum Qualifications

- A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, Finance, Political Science or any degree demonstrating the capacity for the knowledge and skills; and four (4) years professional-level evaluative, analytical and planning work; OR
- Any combination of experience and education equivalent to seven (7) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge and skills for the classification.

Working Conditions
Most work conducted by this position occurs in a standard office environment. Periodically work may be performed in an adult correctional facility where interactions with AICs may occur. The AICs have the potential for becoming angry, hostile, abusive and aggressive, increasing the risk for employees of physical injury, death and/or being taken hostage. This position is responsible for managing multiple projects and priorities, handling demanding issues, and working with conflicting and/or short time frames. Travel to various locations across the state on behalf of the department.

About the Process – What to Expect

Requirements for Employment
The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.
