Hiring multiple seasonal positions in Tillamook with anticipated durations of:

  • September 1, 2026 – December 11, 2026 (1 position)

  • September 7, 2026 - December 18, 2026 (2 positions)

Duties as a Survey Crew Member - Coastal Chinook Research and Monitoring Program (Biological Science Assistant) at the Trask Hatchery in Tillamook, Oregon, are:

  • Fish collection and processing at a hatchery

  • Spawning ground surveys for carcass recovery and live fish counts

  • Creel (recreational fishery) surveys

  • Night Mark-recapture surveys

  • Work with private landowners to conduct surveys on their property

This position requires a Boater Education Certificate obtained through the Oregon State Marine Board within thirty days of hire

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Minimum qualifications are not established for this position; however, we are seeking applicants with the following experience or skills. Preference for interviews may be given to candidates with these skills and background:

  • Experience working with Chinook salmon (identify, assess condition and activity)

  • Experience conducting surveys at night

  • Experience wading in streams and with non-motorized paddle craft (pontoons, rafts)

  • Experience with motorized boat operation

  • Experience collecting biological samples

  • Experience handling live fish and fish carcasses

  • Experience collecting and recording data

  • Anyone who has or is in pursuit of a Fisheries or Wildlife Science degree or related degree in biological/ecological sciences
