The Department of Administrative Services (DAS) is the central administrative agency for the State of Oregon, working behind the scenes to power government. Within DAS, the Risk Management team plays a vital role in protecting the people, property, and programs of state government. We manage the complex business of government with strategy, foresight, and expertise.

We’re looking for a Claims Management Consultant to join our team. In this role, you’ll lead efforts to reduce state exposure to liability, resolve tort claims, and advise management on risk. Your work ensures that agencies can recover and continue their missions with minimal disruption.

What You’ll Do:

  • Advise and consult on claims, loss control, and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Analyze sensitive tort claims and lawsuits to determine coverage, liability, and financial exposure.

  • Investigate complex claims involving bodily injury, civil rights, property damage, and more.

  • Negotiate settlements with claimants, attorneys, and third parties.

  • Collaborate with legal counsel and insurers on litigation strategy and recovery.

  • Support strategic initiatives, process improvements, and risk management programs across state government.

What We Are Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree demonstrating the capacity for the required knowledge and skills; AND Four years of professional-level experience in claims management, including the handling of litigated files.

OR

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to seven years of professional-level experience in claims management and the handling of litigated files.

Preference may be given to candidates with this experience in the public sector.

Additional Details

  • This recruitment is for one permanent, full-time Operations & Policy Analyst 3 position in management service and may be used to fill future vacancies.

  • *The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying, the salary range will reflect the additional 6.95%.
