Your New Role
As a permanent, full-time, Park Ranger 2, you will be responsible for independently planning and carrying out complex park maintenance and operation tasks. These tasks may be performed personally or by leading teams of permanent and seasonal staff or Park Hosts. Responsibilities include protecting, maintaining, operating, and repairing state park lands, natural and cultural resources, structures, facilities, equipment, and systems. Work requires skills in building trades such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, and landscape maintenance, as well as specialized program skills (e.g., resource interpretation, cultural and natural resource restoration, utility infrastructure operation, and park rule enforcement) related to agency maintenance and operations programs.

Minimum Qualifications:
Four (4) years of visitor services experience (e.g. rule enforcement; interpretation such as education and environmental awareness programs; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping).
OR
A Bachelor's degree in Park and Recreation Administration, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Studies or a related field; AND One (1) year of visitor services experience (e.g., rule enforcement; interpretation such as education and environmental awareness programs; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping).
OR
An Associate's degree in Park and Recreation Administration or Natural Resource Management, Environmental Studies or a related field; AND Two and a half (2.5) years of visitor services experience (e.g., rule enforcement; interpretation such as education and environmental awareness programs; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping).
Special Requirements:
To be hired, a criminal record and driving record check must be completed that meets OPRD Criteria at the time of hire, and throughout employment while also maintaining a valid driver’s license.

Technical Planning & Maintenance Expertise – Skilled in developing and implementing recreation facility and trail operations and maintenance plans; diagnosing issues and performing hands-on maintenance tasks (e.g., carpentry, painting, grounds, trail, plumbing); and proficient in computer applications and a variety of programs.
Adaptability Under Pressure – Ability to perform effectively in high-stress, fast-paced, and emergency situations.
