Opportunity Awaits, Apply Today! – Medical Monitoring Project Data Collection Specialist (RA2)

The Oregon Health Authority (OHA), Public Health Division (PHD), HIV, STD, TB (HST) Section in Portland, Oregon is seeking a Data Collection Specialist (RA2) to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting an HIV health study through your expertise and independent judgment.

As a Data Collection Specialist, you will conduct essential day-to-day activities that strengthen HIV surveillance efforts—recruiting and interviewing study participants, abstracting data from medical records, and ensuring accurate data collection and cleaning. Your work will directly contribute to protecting the health of Oregonians and guiding public health interventions.

Note: Effective Feb. 1, 2026, the compensation plan for this position will be increased to reflect a Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) of 2.5%. The salary listed in this posting does not reflect the COLA.

What We Are Looking For

Minimum Qualifications: These qualifications must be reflected in your application for consideration.

  • A Bachelor's degree in any discipline that included six-quarter units in statistics or quantitative analysis methods and procedures

OR

  • Three years’ experience as a research assistant comparable to the work of a Research Analyst 1

OR

  • Two years’ experience using computer applications to help gather, compile, analyze, and report information and statistical data.

  • Bilingual Spanish/English is highly desired.
  • Experience recruiting participants for a study via mail, telephone, text, and email.
  • Experience maintaining and updating participant databases.
  • Experience scheduling interviews and coordinating language interpreters when needed.
  • Experience conducting confidential interviews.
  • Experience obtaining informed consent from participants.
  • Experience linking participants to medical care or ancillary services as needed.
  • Experience creating, promoting, welcoming, and maintaining a culturally competent and diverse work environment.

  • The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying range. If the successful candidate qualifies for PERS, the salary range will increase by 6.95%. For more information, see the Classification and Compensation page.
