- To deliver on an incredibly broad mission in serving a diverse veterans’ community, we focus not on creating new programs, but rather, aligning and partnering around a shared vision and of good stewardship of existing resources.
- ODVA unites government, private companies, nonprofits, and other veteran service organizations to address issues facing veterans and their families. We are building support around specific issues that affect veterans. And we maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders that allow us to continue to be a leading voice on veteran’s issues.
- This is ODVA's cadence. Together with our veterans and our partners, we honor the past, build on our strengths, and chart a course worthy of the next 70 years.
About the Division
The Aging Veterans’ Service (AVS) Division consists of four programs to assist veterans and their families: 1) Oregon Veteran Homes are certified long-term care health facilities located in The Dalles and Lebanon.
2) The Conservatorship Program provides professional fiduciaries to manage the financial affairs and property of protected veterans and their families.
3) Aging Veteran Outreach works with Aging & Disability Resources Centers (ADRC’s) around Oregon to educate staff and locate veterans who may need assistance, and to complete claims for USDVA benefits for veterans currently in one of the Veterans’ Homes or the Conservatorship/ Rep Payee programs
4) Volunteer program trains and coordinates volunteer activity around the state in order to better serve the Oregon veteran population at large.
Established in 1965, ODVA’s Conservatorship Program assists veterans and eligible dependents in managing their financial affairs and property. Conservatorship helps to ease the burdens often associated with paying bills, collecting funds on debts owed to the veteran, corresponding with creditors, and buying or selling real estate, or other investments.
