Your New Role
As a permanent, full-time Park Manager 1, you will oversee the maintenance and operations, interpretation and recreation programs, resource protection efforts, and administrative functions of a smaller, less complex park management unit. This role involves short-range planning and the direct supervision of permanent, seasonal, and volunteer staff who carry out day-to-day operations within the unit.

Minimum Qualifications:
Two years of lead work experience in park operations and maintenance.
- OR -
An Associate's degree in Park and Recreation Administration or Natural Resource Management or Environmental Studies and 6 months of lead work experience in park operations and maintenance.
NOTE: A higher level degree may substitute for the Associate's degree. There is no substitute for the 6 months experience.
Special Requirements:
To be hired, a criminal record and driving record check must be completed that meets OPRD Criteria at the time of hire, and throughout employment while also maintaining a valid driver’s license.
Desired Attributes:
Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and support a team of park rangers within a management unit.
Experienced in interpreting and applying agency rules, policies, and procedures to both staff and the public.
Proven experience building and maintaining collaborative relationships with Tribes, community groups, NGOs, and local, state, and federal government partners.
Strong background in managing park systems at the city, county, state, or federal level.
Committed to fostering a culturally competent and inclusive work environment that values diversity.
Experience overseeing multidisciplinary projects involving natural resources, forestry, cultural resources, facilities maintenance, and interpretive programming.
Proficient in budget development, contract management, and financial analysis.
Experience managing both natural and cultural resource programs.
Preference may be given to current or prior experience with Oregon State Parks, with working knowledge of agency-specific policies and procedures.
