The Department of Administrative Services (DAS) is the central administrative agency that leads state government to implement the policy and budget decisions of the Governor and Oregon Legislature. DAS provides a stable management infrastructure and essential business services that support and enable state and local government agencies to carry out their missions, benefiting all Oregonians. DAS IT is a central component of DAS and reports to the DAS Chief Information Officer who reports directly to the DAS Director. DAS IT provides internal support to the divisions in DAS, as well as 20 small agencies, boards and commissions. Our purpose is to bring people and technology together by providing reliable service, accurate information, and creative solutions within an agile organization that is able to meet current and future challenges.

As a Junior Tier 3 Technician your duties will include building the automation for installing, configuring, and maintaining end user software on desktops and ensuring applications are patched and updated for security, regulatory and policy compliance. Additionally, you will build and maintain scripts and processes used for maintaining user accounts, systems, and software configurations. This position will collaborate with internal and external business partners to create system workflows and automation to enhance DAS systems. Through this collaborative and creative process, you will develop backend processes, documentation, test plans, and system releases. Implementing these system improvements through mature knowledge of programming skills to include SQL, API, and PowerShell.

What We Are Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Four (4) years of information systems experience in: software configuration and deployment; OR

  • An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND two (2) years of information systems experience in: software configuration and deployment; OR

  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.

Desired Attributes:

  • Experience packing applications for automated deployment.

  • Experience packaging and maintaining OS components.

  • Strong understanding of Windows configuration tools (Group Policy, PowerShell, etc.)

  • Knowledge and understanding of ITIL V4.

  • Creating and updating systems and process documentation.

  • Strong customer service and communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical customers and voice opinions with clear rationale based on data and factual evidence.

  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and isolate the root cause and to propose permanent solutions with estimated work effort.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with members of leadership, co-workers, customers, other agencies, and the public.

  • The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying, the salary range will reflect an additional 6.95%.
