What we are looking for:
ODF is looking for a Maintenance & Operations Supervisor to provide leadership and oversight for the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Unit, which supports the Department’s Salem Headquarters (HQs) Campus and 3-Acres Operations Compound. The role supervises staff and contractors to ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable operation, maintenance, and improvement of facilities, systems, and grounds. Key responsibilities include:
- Supervise, coordinate and direct O&M staff and contractors in building and grounds maintenance.
- Oversee installation, repair, and upgrades of facility systems, including automation, energy, security, and structural systems.
- Administer facilities-related contracts, including maintenance, capital improvement, security, and janitorial services.
- Manage computerized maintenance systems, environmental controls, lighting, and access/security systems.
- Assist in developing and implementing unit goals, budgets, procedures, and programs.
- Plan, coordinate, estimate, and schedule capital improvement and major maintenance projects.
- Implement and maintain facility asset information systems to track condition, energy use, and sustainability performance.
- Survey facilities, assess conditions, recommend corrective actions, and prepare technical and cost reports.
- Provide preventive maintenance, respond to emergencies, and ensure safe and effective repair practices.
- Maintain operations inventory and order supplies as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Three years of journey-level trade experience maintaining and repairing buildings, physical plant facilities or grounds; and one additional year as a trades or maintenance supervisor.
NOTE: Some positions may require licensure or certification in a specific trade area. This will be noted at the time of recruitment.
Note: Driver’s License Check - This position requires the operation of a state vehicle for the purpose of conducting official State business. If your license is from outside Oregon, you must submit at least a three-year court/DMV printout. If you have an Oregon driver’s license, a record check will be conducted on the top candidate to ensure a valid license and acceptable driving record.
Desired Skills:
- Understanding of Oregon Procurement Rules relating to the development of Capital Improvement and other construction contracts.
- Knowledge of historic building preservation and familiarity with National Historic Preservation Act.
- Experience with personal computer database, spreadsheets, word processing, and drafting software applications such as AutoCAD.
- Ability to make independent decisions relating to prioritizing and scheduling facilities improvement and maintenance projects.
- Ability to plan, assign, and review work.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Experience supervising journey-level tradespeople from various fields. (e.g., hire, train, assign and review work, motivate, prepare performance evaluations, and address disciplinary issues).
