What we are looking for:
ODF is looking for a Forester to assist the Unit Forester in the accomplishment of State Forest management goals. These goals and related duties are in the areas of
- Preparation of Timber Sale Contracts,
- Administration and Preparation of Service Contracts,
- Field Forestry, Reforestation, and general Forest Administration,
- GIS, Field Maps, GPS and Forestry technlogy.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in forestry or any natural resource area.
OR
Three years of experience in Forestry or any natural resource program area and level of responsibility.
Note: Driver’s License Check - This position requires the operation of a state vehicle for the purpose of conducting official State business. If your license is from outside Oregon, you must submit at least a three-year court/DMV printout. If you have an Oregon driver’s license, a record check will be conducted on the top candidate to ensure a valid license and acceptable driving record.

- Basic knowledge of the theory of natural resource conservation, management, protection, utilization, or control.
- Basic knowledge of GIS and Technology.
- Basic knowledge of research methods used in a specific natural resource program or scientific field.
- Skill gathering technical or scientific information and sumerizing data.
- Basic knowledge of logging systems, dendrology, forest mensuration, spatial mapping, and forestry road layout.
- The ability to work efficiently primarily in the field in an arduous work environment.
