This postion is responsible for overseeing all department telephony technology and ensuring operational efficiency by streamlining systems, processes and procedures to maximize productivity and minimize costs.

Minimum Qualifications

Eight years of experience in administrative services, public health, social services, or health services; OR

Six years of work experience in any field plus five years of experience in administrative services, public health, social services, or health services; OR

A baccalaureate degree plus five years of experience in administrative services, public health, social services, or health services; OR

An advanced degree in a social science field, public health, counseling, social work, rehabilitation services, business, public, or health administration, or Juris Doctorate plus four years of experience in administrative services, public health, social services, or health services.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Directs the work of the Child Safety Response Center (CSRC) and Customer Service Contact Center (CSCC).
  • The incumbent is also responsible for strategic planning, working closely with the Deputy Secretary and Assistant Secretaries to develop and implement long-term goals and objectives and allocating resources across the department to ensure that all units, sections, and programs have the necessary customer services supports to achieve their goals and the department's mission.
  • The incumbent will direct, coordinate, and thereby ensure that effective highlevel communications on critical issues occur across organizational lines and that executive level decisions with statewide impact are based on input from the full spectrum of involved parties, knowledgeable analysis and recommendations and program expertise.
  • The incumbent also serves as liaison with internal and external stakeholders related to DCFS’ call center operations by maintaining close and frequent contact with DCFS appointed officials, executives, and other senior leaders to properly coordinate the activities of the programs under the incumbent's jurisdiction with those of all other DCFS bureaus, divisions, sections, offices, and units, thereby assuring accomplishments of departmental goals and objectives.
  • Coordinates the preparation of reports, documentation, and deliverables related to assigned units, including supporting documentation for federal partners and oversight entities.
  • Develops goals and performance standards for subordinate Digital Services staff.
  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: This position may be filled as a probational appointment or a job appointment that may last up to 48 months. Job appointments may convert to probational appointments. Also, it may be filled as a detail and promoted within 12 months or by promotion of a permanent classified employee.


Work Schedule: Typically, work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday. Flexible work schedules are available after meeting certain criteria and is dependent upon the position you are applying for. Some positions require working shifts.
