The Office of State Parks (OSP) serves the citizens of Louisiana and visitors by preserving and interpreting natural areas of unique or exceptional scenic value, planning, developing and operating sites that provide outdoor recreation opportunities in natural surroundings, preserving and interpreting historical and scientific sites of statewide importance and administering intergovernmental programs related to outdoor recreation and trails.
Join our team as a Park Technician and play a vital role in keeping our parks clean, safe, and welcoming for all visitors. In this hands-on position, you will perform a variety of custodial, maintenance, and groundskeeping tasks, including facility cleaning, litter and debris removal, and routine preventative maintenance. You’ll also operate equipment and help maintain park grounds to ensure a well-kept and enjoyable outdoor environment for the community. Minimum Qualifications

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:
- Cleans rental facilities to include but not limited to changing linens, disinfecting, sweeping, mopping, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, etc.
- Removes trash and prepares dirty laundry for pickup.
- Cleans & picks up litter/trash from bathhouses, campground areas, and day use areas.
- Assists with minor building maintenance such as air filters, light bulbs, etc.
- Assists customers with questions and concerns.
- Provide park and local community information to customers.
Position-Specific Details:
Location: Chemin-a-Haut State Park in Bastrop, LA
Appointment Type: Probational, Promotion, or Detail to Special Duty
Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Park Technician A, B, or C.
Work Schedule: State Parks are open 365 days a year. Position will work a rotating schedule of 40 hours/week, which can include holidays and/or weekends as needed, to ensure coverage at the park.
Travel: Position requires driving around the park as part of the daily shift. Travel may be required to other state parks to assist in staffing or events, as needed. A state vehicle is available for employee use while on duty.
