This position is part of a heavy road maintenance crew that is responsible for using various hand tools, operating heavy equipment and dump trucks for asphalt and milling operations, installing large cross drain culverts, assisting with erosion repair jobs and various building maintenance projects.

The incumbent is required to possess a Class A CDL, pass random drug screens, have working knowledge of a computer, and be able to lift 50 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications

Three years of experience in mobile equipment operations.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Serves as the primary operator of a lowboy truck to load, transport, and deliver a wide range of heavy and light district equipment.

  • Operates additional lower-level equipment such as dump trucks, skid steers, rollers, tractors, and various attachments.

  • Performs routine safety inspections, reports equipment issues, and follows proper binding procedures to ensure safe transport.

  • Conducts minor mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance, and completes required documentation.

  • Assists with other assigned duties as needed, including emergency or disaster response activities.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Promotional, open only to current permanent classified employees of DOTD.

Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.

Work Schedule: Work hours are to be determined.

Compensation: Starting salary for MEO-2 HEAVY is $22.52/hourly
