Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:
At this level, incumbents perform basic operational support tasks under close supervision. Duties may include a combination of inventory handling, clerical, custodial, and light mobile equipment operation tasks in a warehouse environment. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Warehouse Operations & Program Support
- Warehouse Operations: Perform basic warehouse support duties including inventory handling, clerical tasks, custodial work, and operation of light mobile equipment within a warehouse environment.
- USDA Commodity Receiving: Receive year-round shipments of USDA and other food products and document deliveries using the USDA Web Based Supply Chain Management System and the LDAF food distribution ordering and inventory tracking system.
- Inventory Management: Organize food inventory by product type and assist with maintaining perpetual inventory records to ensure accurate tracking and program integrity.
- Order Fulfillment & Distribution: Assemble and load outgoing shipments for school food authorities and recipient agencies while reviewing order allocations for accuracy.
- Program Coordination & Reporting: Assist with scheduling USDA food pickup appointments and tracking food distribution reports submitted by recipient entities such as school systems and childcare programs.
- Operational Support: Provide warehouse operational support and perform essential duties in the absence of the Warehouse Manager to ensure continuity of operations.
- Facility Safety & Maintenance: Help monitor warehouse safety and security systems, including temperature controls and alarms, and perform routine cleaning and sanitation of the facility and grounds.
Functional Requirements
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally; perform tasks requiring reaching above shoulders, prolonged walking or standing, climbing stairs or ladders, and getting on and off forklifts and trucks.
Environmental Factors
Work primarily indoors with occasional outdoor duties and possible exposure to slippery or uneven surfaces.
May be required to work in cold storage environments and wear freezer suits or other appropriate safety equipment for moderate periods of time.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Full-time- this position may be filled by probation or by promotion of a classified employee of the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry serving with permanent status.- Applicants who are not permanent employees of the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry will be required to serve a probationary period up to 24 months.
