Minimum Qualifications

Two years of experience in mobile equipment operations.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

As a Mobile Equipment Operator 1 - Heavy, you will have the following job duties:

  • Assists faculty and researchers with implementation of research and outreach projects including propagation and transplants, field preparation, planting, data collection, harvesting, post-harvest storage and educational programs. Operates, maintains, and makes adjustments to complex agricultural equipment and/or research equipment. (70%)
  • Assists with maintenance and repairs of grounds surrounding field plots including mowing, drainage implementation and maintenance, and operation, installation, and maintenance of irrigation systems. Assists with maintenance of groundskeeping equipment (10%)
  • Mixes chemicals according to instruction on container label. Administers insecticides and fertilizers. (15%)
  • Performs other duties as assigned. (5%)

Position-Specific Details:

  • Appointment Type: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
  • Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, M-F, with the potential for some weekend work during harvest season.
  • Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
  • Location: Botanic Gardens, Baton Rouge, La.
  • This position is not eligible for remote employment.
