The Wildlife Enforcement Lieutenant serves as a first-line supervisor overseeing sworn enforcement personnel assigned to a district or investigative unit, providing leadership and operational guidance in the enforcement of all laws, rules, and regulations under the authority of the department and commission. Additionally, the role includes supervising the collection of evidence, preparation of warrants, and execution of arrests, as well as developing and coordinating training programs for enforcement personnel. The position also ensures accurate reporting and the maintenance of investigative documentation in compliance with accreditation and departmental standards. Minimum Qualifications
One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been as a Wildlife Enforcement Corporal or higher rank in state service:
Five years of experience in wildlife conservation law enforcement.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.
Possession of a current driver's license.
Applicants may be required to qualify as an ex-officio notary public.
An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified by the hiring agency until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
NOTE:
This job has special physical requirements in that the incumbent must lift heavy objects (50 lbs. or more), walk long distances, work in harsh weather conditions, fire handguns, rifles, and shotguns accurately, and have the ability to operate vehicles, boats, and all-terrain vehicles while in the performance of duties.Job Specification

Job Duties:
- Serves as the first-line supervisor for sworn enforcement personnel assigned to a District or lower level Wildlife Investigators.
- Supervises and assists sworn personnel engaged in the investigation and enforcement of all laws, rules, and regulations as delegated to the department and commission.
- Investigate wild-life related crimes that cross state boundaries, such as smuggling and trafficking of regulated species.
- Support convert operations through site surveys, administrative documentation and equipment coordination.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with wildlife law enforcement operations.
- Develop and coordinate training programs for law enforcement personnel within assigned regions.
- Prepare detailed reports and maintain investigative documentation to meet accreditation standards,.
- Supervises the gathering of evidence, preparation of warrants, and effecting of arrests.
